Dreams are very important to have. However, most people don’t know how to dream. There was no Dream 101 course in school. During school you were always asked what you wanted to be when you grew up, and most of the time that meant getting an expensive college degree. This is not a dream, this is simply a career. Your career is meaningful, but it doesn’t fulfil you like a dream will. Former President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson said: “All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day, or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let our dreams die. But others nourish and protect them. Nurse them through bad days till they bring them to sunshine and light, which always come to those who sincerely believe that their dreams will come true.” So, what is your dream? If you cannot remember what your dream is, then try to answer these questions. When you were in school, what did you want to do with your life? When you left high school, what were you shooting to achieve? Do you remember your dream now? If you remember this dream, ask yourself this question. Why did you give up on your dream? There are so many excuses as to why someone gave up on their dreams at a young age. The most common answers are not having the money, and second they never receive the proper support from their loved ones to achieve them. Instead of focusing on the negative as to why you never pursued your dream then, ask yourself if that dream is still what you want with your life today? I know that this is a difficult question to ask, because most of us have just been surviving life instead of living our lives. However, this is a very important thing to talk about with yourself. If you decide that that dream is no longer the dream you have, then that’s fine. Or if you still like that dream, but want to make a few tweaks to it, then do it. This is your life, and you have the power to control it, when you start to believe in yourself. By now I would hope you have some sort of dream. However if you don’t, ask yourself if you have a goal you would like to reach. Do you want to lose weight, have more self-esteem, or want to volunteer somewhere to feel important to a cause? These types of goals I like to call stepping stones to your dream. The reason for this is simple, because once you start achieving these goals that you can control, your self-confidence will go up and you will start believing in yourself that you can dream again! In order to pursue your dreams again you need to let go of 10 things:
So what are you waiting for? |
